Why Google Pixel’s Superbowl Advert Stuck With Me.
The Super Bowl has just passed, and it feels as though this is what everyone is talking about. No, this blog post is not about Kendrick Lamar…
Although not an American football watcher myself, I am aware of the Super Bowl for its famous advertisements, and this year was no different. One that popped up on my TikTok FYP and I genuinely haven’t stopped thinking about since, is ‘Dream Job’ by Google Pixel. The advert integrates emotional storytelling so beautifully from the perspective of a father. He is preparing for a new job with the help of Google’s AI assistant, Gemini Live. As he practises, he reflects on his most significant role, being a parent. Discussing interview questions and preparing answers, his answers are reflected in being a dad rather than an employee. Highlighting the skills and experiences he has learned from raising his daughter.
When watching an advertisement, I try and put myself in the creative team’s shoes and dissect what was the insight behind this campaign? ‘Dream Job’ I believe does a great job at humanising employees, showing us that we are not just workers in a company, but we are fathers, sisters, and friends. By showcasing the relationships behind the scenes when discussing work-related topics, I believe it makes a more personal experience, which not just parents but any viewer will be able to relate to.
